If there is anyone who seemingly hates us more than any chump we post here it is this guy. Hal Turner ran for the Republican nomination for Congress in 2000 in the 13th District in an attempt to unseat incumbent Bob Melendez. He was also the Campaign Chair for Murray Sabrin when he ran for NJ Governor in 1997. If Sabrin won his current bid for Senator, he said he wanted to pass the torch to him. Some of us were not too keen on that because we had flagged him as a racist trying to slip into the mainstream. We were right.

Turner was born at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, NJ in 1962. He lived in Union City until he was four when his family moved to Ridgefield Park in Bergen County. He graduated from Ridgefield Park High School in 1980 and while attending Bergen Community College in Paramus, worked as a truck driver the family moving and storage business. In 1986 he moved to Atlanta and became the Southeast US Regional Sales Manager for Global Van Lines. He moved back to New Jersey in 1990 to work for Roberts Express as a Divisional Sales Manager. Two years later he was at North American Van Lines as their Northeast Regional Saled Manager. By this time he had married his wife Phyllis and in 1994 they had a son named Michael. Eventually, Hal found himself in real estate, starting first with Sacks Realty in Jersey City and then later with Coldwell Banker as a agent for commercial properties.

Folks had been used to hearing his moniker "Hal from North Bergen" often on 77 WABC and other talk-radio stations in the New York City area. He was especially a staple, along with two others, John "from Staten Island" Van Soest and Frank "from Queens" Magnivito, on the show of racist talk-shit host Bob Grant. In 1995 Turner organized a rally at the New Jersey State Capitol to defend Grant from those who just about had enough of his crap. Nationalist Movement leader Richard Barrett also had a hand in putting this event together and noted on his web page that as they spoke, Turner and another right wing hack named Richard Pezzulo were cheered by the assembled, which included those that waved Barrett's Crosstar "battle flags." Turner has even warmed up to Grant's replacement at WABC, Sean Hannity. In August 1998 Turner called into Hannity's WABC show and said that if it weren't for the white man, that blacks "would still be swinging from the trees in Africa." This comment drew no rebuke from Hannity, himself a racial antagonist who even calls Turner at home and plugged his campaign on his show, but rather Hannity continued to race-bait with Turner around a number of political issues. In fact, Turner has said on his radio show, and to us that Hannity had become fast friends. Hannity even invited Turner to sit in on a taping on Hannity and Colmes. Turner told us, however that as Hannity star began to shine a bit more he stopped talking to Turner. One prominient African-American writer based in New York has never been invited to appear on Hannity and Colmes again after he made mention of his friendship with Turner on the air.

Turner also had a shortwave radio program with Van Soest that ran in the late 90s called "The Right Perspective". It was here where he had openly defended not only racial profiling but police brutality as well, saying that it is not done enough. If Turner won his bid for Congress, it would have been part of an agenda to help the South secede from the Union again. "The long-term objective, which troubles independent political observers, is to send enough party members to Congress to push for a separate Southern nation," he said on his June 25, 1999 radio program. "And I would say to all the people in the states that comprise the Old Confederacy: Save a spot for me! Because, baby, I will fight on your side to destabilize these evil Yankees. And I wanna live in the New South. The South will rise again and I'll be right there to live with ya."

The show Turner has now started in September 2000 is a shortwave radio program where he really began to creep out of his shell. When Aryan Nations was involved in the lawsuit filed by Morris Dees that year, in which they lost and wound up bankrupt, Turner was counted as an ally for the White Supremacist group. In fact, his show was advertised on the Aryan Nations website. He also has a website where once he decided to go after the New Black Panther Party in what has got to be the most boneheaded stunt ever. The site features pictures of blacks "gang-raping" a white girl, and Turner states that he has taken these pics from a New Black Panther Party Yahoo! Club page. While he is calling for the media to pick up this story and for law enforcement to step in and go after the Panthers, nothing of the sort has happened. In fact, the validity of Turner's assertions is being questioned because at the time the Panthers have shunned putting up a page of their own, let alone set up one on Yahoo! Furthermore, the pictures turned out to be from an adult website, and when one visited the alleged Panther website other, more explicit pictures not involving rape were also posted. Nothing else ever came from this, and a lot of people started to look at Turner with a cautious eye.

Turner BS is all over the web and it pretty much damns him as the racist he once tried to deny he was. In one instance he has threatened to incite people to "dispense revenge" on Federal Judge Maryanne Trump Barry and New Jersey NAACP officials and their attorneys after a fire in North Bergen claimed the lives of four people in 1998. Turner charged the NAACP with the deaths because they filed an anti-discrimination lawsuit against the local fire department. Barry was the judge who presided and imposed a hiring freeze on the department until the matter was resolved. After the fire, Turner, a real estate agent with access to the names and addresses of virtually everyone who lives in the state, wrote a letter that appeared on deja.com (now Google) that said that he was going to release the names and addresses of Barry, the NAACP officials, and their lawyers to the families of the fire victims. "It would be interesting to see how those families dispense revenge on those who are really responsible for the deaths of their loved ones, he wrote." Turner was only recently called on the threat by the Daily Targum, the Rutgers University student newspaper, and stood by the letter.

Since then, Turner lost his job as a realtor at Coldwell Banker after someone called the company with a complaint that he communicated a threat in which he indicated he would use his resources at the real estate firm. He had since been courting white supremacists on a full time basis. His radio show has features some of the more notable fascists in America, and he has started a network which hosts a radio show for Aryan Nations and supposedly another for his friends Van Soest and Magnivito. Turner has also been seen at a recent National Alliance meeting in Elmwood Park, NJ. Meanwhile websites that link to his radio show have been feeling the pinch from some other more conservative site that they have associated with. Freak Republic has pulled a link to a website that listed radio programs, and had included Turner's. His old friend, Murray Sabrin, who is Jewish, must be proud, not to mention the parishoners at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church on Kennedy Blvd. in Jersey City where his family attended.  He has received a little bit of flack for this, but according to him in a recent posting on his message board there has been some changes. " In February of last year, Pastor Vic Kennedy  was transferred out of St Anne's," he wrote. " Between the change of Pastor, and the overt threats against our son from folks at OPP (No, there wasn't any threat), after the school year ended last June we withdrew our son from that school and changed the Parish we attend. "

In 2003, Turner's hatemongering became more public. He had been featured in newspaper articles and had organized a rally to counter the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride when it made a stop in Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. He also made the Southern Poverty Law Center's Intelligence Report as one of 40 hatemongers to watch. In the SPLC profile of him, they noted an alleged "illness" that he told listeners to his radio show he was suffering from. This has always raised an eyebrow with people because he would never tell anyone what the illness was, even when he was supposed to have gone to the hospital after suffering a heart attack. SPLC noted that his sickness always seemed to worsen when bills would come due. That would connect another staple in his M.O.: begging his supporters for money to keep his radio show going, fund his IWFR counter-rally, etc. In truth, those who give him money may not be helping his projects along, but rather a very healthy cocaine habit. Turner once alluded to a cocaine problem in the past, well before he became a darling of Nazism, in AOL chat rooms, where he would talk of not only a coke habit, but also having a few homosexual liaisons in his younger days. The liaisons we have never been able to confirm, but his coke habit has become notorious as hell among his new circles. Turner is often seen with fellow North Bergen resident New Jersey Aryan Nations head and reputed drug dealer James Mazzone (a/k/a James McManus). One time they were not together was reportedly on the trip to the 2003 Aryan Nations World Congress in Hayden, Idaho. Turner was supposed to travel with Mazzone, but was allegedly too high and paranoid to make the trip until the next day. This is not the only time his drug habit has caused embarrassment. According to some reports, the heart attack that he was supposed to have suffered was either coke-induced, or a full on overdose. What's more this was supposed to have happened at Mazzone's home, who is reportedly out on bond as he faces drug charges. If all this is true, this would explain the rather odd pattern of behavior that Turner is known for, and it would also make him a risk to anyone around him.

On May 31, 2004, Turner shut down his site and radio program, and said he was out of the WP game. On Nov. 16, he came back, only without the radio show. His website is back online and he is still talking shit.
